The grand issuance ceremony of Sichuan Sanxingdui Relics commemorative gold and silver coins was held in Sichuan Guanghan at 12th July, 2002. Leaders who addressed at the ceremony are: Yu Yujuan supervisor from the Currency and Bullion Bureau of the People's Bank of China ˇ˘Li Xiaoping vice-general manager of CGCI ˇ˘Zhang Xiangjun vice-general manager of CGCI ˇ˘Xiao Longxi mayor of Guanghan city.

As reported, each set of Sichuan Sanxingdui Relics commemorative coins consists of two coins, one 1/2 oz. gold coin, and one 2 oz. silver coin. The obverse design of the two coins are the same, the main pattern features the Museum of Sichuan Sanxingdui Relics, with the title of the P.R.C. and the issuing year. The reverse design of the 1/2 ounce gold coin features the Bronze Mask with Protruding Eyes, and bears the face value, the total mintage is 5,000 pieces; The reverse design of the 2 oz. silver coin features the Bronze Head Sculpture with Gold Mask, and bears the face value, the total mintage is 30,000 pieces.This set of commemorative gold and silver coins are minted separately by Shenzhen Guobao Mint, Shenyang Mint, and are distributed exclusively by China Gold Coin Incorporation.
