The People’s Bank of China will issue a set of 2003 Guanyin precious metal commemorative coins in Oct. 23th 2003. This set of commemorative coins comprises 3 coins, 1 gold coin, 1 platinum coin, and 1 silver coin, all of which are legal tender of the P.R.C..
I. Designs of the commemorative coins
i. The obverse design
The common obverse design on the three precious metal commemorative coins is the Pilgrimage Gate on Mount Putuo, together with the title of the P.R.C. and year 2003.
ii. The reverse designs
i). The common reverse design on the 1/10oz. gold coin and the 1/10oz. platinum coin is the portrait of Guanyin, and the face values.
ii). The reverse design on the 1kg. silver coin is the portrait of Shuiyue Guanyin, and the face values.
II. Specifications and mintages of the commemorative coins
i. The 1/10oz. gold coin is proof finished, contains 1/10oz. pure gold, round in shape, 18mm in diameter, 50 Yuan in face value, 99.9% in purity, 33,000pc. in mintage.
ii. The 1/10oz. platinum commemorative coin is proof finished, contains 1/10oz. pure platinum, round in shape, 18mm in diameter, 100 Yuan in face value, 99.9% in purity, 33,000pc. in mintage.
iii. The 1kg. silver commemorative coin is proof finished, contains 1kg. pure silver, round in shape, 100mm in diameter, 300 Yuan in face value, 99.9% in purity, 3,800pc. in mintage.
III. This set of commemorative coins were minted by Shanghai Mint, Shenyang Mint, Shenzhen Guobao mint, and PAMP S.A. Switzerland, exclusively distributed by CGCI.
