Announcement of the People¡¯s Bank of China

The People¡¯s Bank of China will issue a set of Chinese Classical Literary Works ---Pilgrimage To The West commemorative colored gold and silver coins (the 2nd set) on Jun. 10th, 2004. This set of commemorative coins comprises 5 coins, 2 gold coins, 3 silver coins, all of which are the legal tender of the People¡¯s Republic of China.
I. Designs on the commemorative coins
i. The obverse designs
The common obverse design is On The Scripture-seeking Route to India, the title of the PRC and year 2004.
ii. The reverse designs
i>. The reverse design on the 1/2oz. colored gold coin features the The Monkey King Meeting the Master, and the face value.
ii>. The reverse designs on the 1oz. colored silver coin (2 pieces) feature respectively Resourcefully Vanquish Ba Jie, Fight Up Against Ox Fiend, and the face values.
iii>. The reverse design on the 5oz. colored gold coin features Tri-battles Against Demon of Bones, and the face value.
iv>. The reverse design on the 5oz. colored silver coin features True and False Monkey King, and the face value.
II. Specifications and Mintages:
i. The 1/2oz. colored gold coin is proof finished, contains 1/2oz. pure gold, round in shape, 27mm in diameter, 200 Yuan in face value, 99.9% in purity, the mintage is 11,800pc.
ii. The 1oz. colored silver coins (2 coins) are proof finished, each contains 1oz. of pure silver, round in shape, 40mm in diameter, 10 Yuan in face value, 99.9% in purity, each has a mintage of 38,000pc.
iii. The 5oz. colored gold coin is proof finished, contains 5oz. pure gold, oblong in shape, the specification is 64mm¡Á40mm, 2,000 Yuan in face value, 99.9% in purity, the mintage is 500pc.
iv. The 5oz. colored silver coin is proof finished, contains 5oz. pure silver, oblong in shape, the specification is 80mm¡Á50mm, 50 Yuan in face value, 99.9% in purity, the mintage is 10,000pc.
III. This set of colored gold and silver commemorative coins are minted by Shenzhen Guobao Minting Corporation, Shenyang Mint, distributed exclusively by CGCI.
