The People’s Bank of China will issue a
set of One-thousand-year-old Academy, Yuelu
Academy Gold and Silver Commemorative Coins
on Apr.18, 2006. This set of commemorative
coins comprises one gold coin and one silver
coin, both of which are the legal tender of
the People’s Republic of China.
I. Design of the
coins: i. Obverse design on the coin.
The common obverse design features the gate
of Yuelu Academy, and the title of the People’s
Republic of China, year 2006.
ii. Reverse design on the coin. The reverse
design of the 1/2oz. gold bullion coin features
lecture hall of Yuelu Academy, Chinese characters
’ 岳麓书院 讲堂’ and the face value. The reverse
design of the 1oz. silver bullion coin features
royal Library of Yuelu Academy, Chinese characters
‘岳麓书院 御书楼’, and the face value.
II. The specifications and mintages:
i. the 1/2oz. round gold coin is bullion in
quality, contains 1/2oz. of pure gold, 27mm
in diameter, 200Yuan in face value, 99.9%
in purity, the mintage is 7,000pc.
ii. the 1oz.round silver coin is bullion in
quality, contains 1oz. of pure silver, 40mm
in diameter, 10Yuan in face value, 99.9% in
purity, the mintage is 40,000pc.
III. This set of gold
and silver commemorative coins were minted
by both Shenzhen Guobao Mint and Shenyang
Mint, and exclusively distributed by China
Gold Coin Incorporation.
