The People’s Bank of China will issue a set of panda commemorative gold and silver coins of the foundation of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Limited on Nov.1, 2005. This set of commemorative coins comprises one gold coin and one silver coin, both of which are the legal tender of the People’s Republic of China.

I. Design of the coins:

i. Obverse design on the coinThe common obverse design features the Hall of Praying for Good Harvest of the Temple of Heaven in Beijing, and the title of the People’s Republic of China, year 2005, as well as Chinese characters ‘中国工商银行股份有限公司成立纪念’;

ii. Reverse design on the coin

The reverse design of the 1/4oz. gold bullion coin features a mother panda and her son, characters ‘1/4oz Au.999’, ‘Commemoration of the Foundation of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Limited’ and the face value.

The reverse design of the 1oz. silver bullion coin features a mother panda and her son, characters ‘1oz Ag.999’, ‘Commemoration of the Foundation of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Limited’ and the face value.

iii. The silver commemorative coin is partially gilded.

II. The specifications and mintages: 

i. The 1/4oz. round gold coin is bullion in quality, contains 1/4oz. of pure gold, 22mm in diameter, 100Yuan in face value, 99.9% in purity, the mintage is 40,000pc.  

ii. The 1oz.round silver coin is bullion in quality, contains 1oz. of pure silver, 40mm in diameter, 10Yuan in face value, 99.9% in purity, the mintage is 100,000pc.

III. This set of gold and silver commemorative coins were minted by Shanghai Mint and Shenzhen Guobao Minting Co. Ltd., and exclusively distributed by China Gold Coin Incorporation.
