In commemoration of the success of Beijing's bidding for 2008 Olympic games, the People's Bank of China

issued the success of Beijing's bidding for 2008 Olympic games commemorative silver coin.

I. The obverse of the commemorative silver coin depicts the title of the PRC, the issuing year, the colorful

Olympiad bidding logo, an English character ' V ' ( for victory ) inlayed with gold and successive abstract images

of gymnasts. The bidding logo is composed of five colors, which symbolizes the Olympic rings; its shape conveys

two latent meanings: 1. A Chinese knot; 2. A person who is playing Taiji. The whole pattern is harmoniously

composed and full of motion. It symbolizes the worldwide cooperation, communication and development, and

calls for a new century created by all the countries together. It also expresses the Olympic spirit --- faster, higher,

stronger. The character '2008' and 'BEIJING' just under the bidding logo means the success of the Beijing's

bidding for 2008 Olympic games.

II. The reverse features the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests of the Temple of Heaven in Beijing and an opening

door, the denomination and ' 庆祝北京申奥成功纪念 ' ( to celebrate the success of Beijing's bidding for 2008

Olympic games) in Chinese characters. The commemorative coins were minted by Shanghai Mint and

exclusively distributed by China Gold Coin Inc..
