ĄĄThe Chinese National Olympic Committee Commemorative Gold, Silver and Copper Coins

The Chinese National Olympic Committee is the national wide public gymnastic organization, and its purpose is

to develop gymnasium and promote the Olympic Games. In 1931, the predecessor of the Chinese National

Olympic Committee---the Chinese Gym-Promoter Committee was permitted by the IOC, and Chinese athletes

attended the Olympic Games several times. In Aug 1958, some members of the IOC made the Two-China Event,

so the relations between the IOC and the Chinese National Olympic Committee were broken out. In Oct 1979, the

IOC passed the decision that the Chinese National Olympic Committee was the national wide committee, and

permitted the Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee was local organization of China and existed in the IOC. In Feb

1980, the 82nd Congress authorized the decision; the legal status of the Chinese National Olympic Committee

was resumed.

In commemoration of the historical change, the People's Bank of China issued the Chinese National Olympic

Committee commemorative gold, silver and copper coins. There are altogether 8, one is gold, four are silver and

four are copper.
