| The
People's Bank of China will issue a set of World Heritage¡ªWulingyuan
Scenic Resort commemorative gold and silver coins
on September 19, 2003. This set consists of 3 coins, 1 in gold and
2 in silver, which are all legal tender of the PRC.
I. Designs on the coins:
i.The obverse designs
The obverse design on the 1/2-ounce gold coin depicts Lobster Flower
and the traditional pattern of Tujias, the title of the PRC and
the issuing year.
The common obverse design on the 1-ounce silver coins depicts the
traditional residential building of Tujias,the title of the PRC
and the issuing year.
ii.The reverse designs
The reverse of the 1/2-ounce gold coin depicts the scene of the
Gold Whip Crag and the face value.
The reverses of the two 1-ounce silver coins respectively depict
the hand-waving dance of Tujias, the Imperial Painting Brush Peak
and the face values.
II. Specifications and mintages:
The gold coin is proof in quality, round in shape, 27mm in diameter,
200 Yuan in face value, 99.9% in fineness and contains 1/2 ounce
of pure gold. The mintage is 8,000 pieces.
The two silver coins are both proof in quality, round in shape,
40 mm in diameter, 10 Yuan in face value. Each contains 1 ounce
of pure silver and has a mintage of 30,000 pieces.
III. This set of gold and silver commemorative coins are minted
jointly by Shenyang Mint and Shanghai Mint, and solely distributed
by China Gold Coin Incorporation.
