The Issue Of World Cultural Heritage---The Temple And Cemetery Of Confucius And The Confucian Mansion, Imperial Palace Of The
Ming And Qing Dynasties General Commemorative Coins

The People's Bank of China will issue a set of world cultural heritage---The Temple and Cemetery of Confucius and the Confucian Mansion, Imperial Palace of the Ming and Qing Dynasties general commemorative coins in succession since 18th Nov. 2003.
I. Designs of the general commemorative coins:
i. The obverse design of the coins:
The common obverse design of the coins is the emblem of the PRC., with “中华人民共和国” (The People’s Republic of China) and “2003” engraved at the bottom.
ii. The reverse design of the coins:
The main design on the reverse of the World Cultural Heritage---The Temple and Cemetery of Confucius and the Confucian Mansion general commemorative coins features the Dacheng Temple. At the top is the image of The Everlasting Memorial Archway, at the upper-left is the image of plaque hung on the gate of the Confucian Mansion, and at the upper-right is the face value “5元”(5Yuan), and with Chinese characters “世界文化遗产曲阜孔庙孔林孔府”(The World Cultural Heritage---The Temple and Cemetery of Confucius and the Confucian Mansion) at the bottom.
The main design on the reverse of the World Cultural Heritage--- Imperial Palace of the Ming and Qing Dynasties is the image of the Taihemen and Jinshuiqiao of the Forbidden City, with the image of the planform of the Three Back Halls of the Forbidden City as the background, and the image of the Gate of the Forbidden City is engraved symmetrically at both sides. At the upper-right is the face value “5元”(5Yuan), with Chinese characters “世界文化遗产明清故宫”(The World Cultural Heritage--- Imperial Palace of the Ming and Qing Dynasties) at the bottom.
II. The Face value, specification, metal and mintage of the general commemorative coins:
The identical face value of the commemorative coins is 5Yuan, identical diameter is 30mm, the material is brass alloy, and each coin has a mintage of 8,000,000pc..
III. This set of general commemorative coins have the same function and circulate equally with RMB of same face value.
