The People’s Bank of China will issue a set of The Centenary
of the Birth of Deng Xiaoping Gold and Silver Commemorative
Coins, and a set of The Centenary of the Birth of Deng Xiaoping
general commemorative coin at Aug. 22, 2004. The set of general
commemorative coin is a single-coin set; the precious metal
commemorative coin set comprises 4 coins in all, including two
gold coins weighs respectively 1/2oz. and 5oz., two silver coins
weighs respectively 1oz. and 1kg. All these coins are legal
tender of the People’s Republic of China.
I. The general commemorative coin
i. Design of the coin
The obverse design of the general commemorative coin depicts
Deng Xiaoping’s former residence in Guangan, Sichuan province.
On the upper edge engraved the title of the PRC. in Chinese
Characters "中华人民共和国", on the lower edge engraved the
characters "四川广安邓小平故居", "壹圆", and "2004";
the reverse design depicts the profile of Deng Xiaoping, on
the upper edge engraved characters "邓小平诞辰100周年", and
"1904-2004". On the rim of coin engraved the abbreviation
of Renminbi "RMB".
ii. The face value, specification, metal, and mintage of the
coin
The face value of the coin is 1 Yuan, the diameter is 25mm,
the metal is nickel plated steel, the mintage is 10 million
pieces.
iii. The commemorative coin functions equally with Renminbi
currently in circulation, and is equivalent to Renminbi bears
the same face value. |
