In accordance with concerned laws and regulations
together with the market demands, the People's Bank of China published
2001
Chinese Commemorative Gold and Silver Coins Issuance Plan today
in Beijing. The issuance of 2003 precious metal commemorative
coins include 9 projects, 36 breeds in total, among which 19 breeds
are gold, 17 breeds are silver.
The new plan include: 2001 Panda Gold and Silver Commemorative Coins;
Chinese Folk Fairy Tales Colorful Gold and Silver
Commemorative Coins; Chinese Traditional Paintings --- Han xizai's
Evening Banquet colorful silver coin; The 50th Anniversary of
Peaceful Liberation of Tibet Commemorative Gold Coin; Chinese Classical
Literature Works---A Dream of Red Mansion colorful gold
and silver commemorative coins (1st set); Chinese Grottoes Art Gold
and Silver Commemorative Coins; Chinese Beijing Opera Art
colorful gold and silver commemorative coins (3rd set); Chinese
Traditional Custom---the Dragon Boat Festival commemorative silver
coin ( the Middle Autumn Day ); Chinese Twelve Animals of Lunar
Calendar Series---2002 the year of horse gold and silver
commemorative coins. Chinese Folk Fairy Tales Colorful Gold and
Silver Commemorative Coins and Chinese Traditional Paintings ---
Han xizai's Evening Banquet colorful silver coin are projects postponed
from 2000. As informed, projects in 2001 are fewer than
projects in 2000, this is a further step to implement the policy
of "control the total issuance, adjust the management structure,
ensure
high quality, renew the variety".
Chinese Gold and Silver Coins are legal tender of the PRC. designed
under specific themes and issued with certain quantities.
Chinese Gold and Silver Coins are collectibles and investment treasures
issued with the purpose of carrying forward the traditional
culture, disseminating communist ideas, enhancing patriotism and
propagandizing the great achievements of the reform and open-
door policy, pushing forward world peace. To date 10 categories,
more than 1400 breeds of gold and silver commemorative coins
have been issued, with a market price of 10 billion Yuan. The issuance
projects of 2001 include themes concerning Chinese
politics, cultures, folk customs, and animal protection. Most of
them are projected to propagandizing Chinese national culture, include
themes concerning literature works, Beijing opera art, folk fairy
tales, grottoes art, and traditional paintings.
