Kuanyin, thought to be the generous
spirit who saves human being from disaster by the Buddhists.
Kuanyin was introduced into china in the first century
and universally worshipped by the sixth century. The image
of Kuanyin has evolved into a great variety during the
long time of being handed down from generation to generation.
According to their own wishes and tastes, Chinese people
created many images of Kuanyin, which characterize Chinese
national features and tally with Chinese aesthetic viewpoint.
Since 1993, the People’s Bank of China has been issuing
commemorative precious metal coins on Kuanyin except 2001.The
People’s Bank of China will issue a set of 2004 Kuangyin
Commemorative Precious Metal Coins in April 2004. This
set consists of 3 coins, 1 in gold, 1 in silver and 1
in platinum. |
