Ancient Chinese People used to count the
years with the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches, and use
twelve animals to represent the twelve Earthly Branches. The
twelve animals successively were Mouse, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon,
Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Pig. They were
endowed with different meaning according to their nature, and
there came into being the special Shengxiao culture. Usually,
people born in the year of an animal shall have some common
characters with the animal.
2006 is the year of the dog, which is one of the Six Domestic
Animals in ancient China. The dog is tamely, brave, loyal, and
is devoted to its duty. The dog is the friend of mankind.
