The Spring Festival means "year" of the lunar calendar
in China. It is the end of the last year and the beginning
of the next lunar year. The Spring Festival has a long history,
coming of the activities of offering sacrifices to gods and
ancestors in Yinshang times. It is the most grand and busy
traditional festival in China, which always lasts a whole
month.
People always stop work and rest in
these days. On the last day of a lunar year, people of a family
will gather together to enjoy a grand feast, and celebrate
the lunar New Year's Eve. On January 1 of a lunar New Year,
people will offer sacrifices to ancestors and give money to
children as a lunar New Year gift. In the following days people
will visit relatives and friends to give wishes. The activities
will last to the Lantern Festival. After which, people will
return to their work in a new year.
