Kuanyin is a well-known Buddhist image in China. She is particularly
beloved by Chinese people for her merciful heart. The image
of Kuanyin agglomerates the wisdom and artistic talent of
Chinese people, and contains profound Buddhism philosophy.
Kuanyin usually represents the spirit of advocating humanity
and peace, and nice wishes of the people. In China, the image
of Kuanyin strikes root in the hearts of the people. When
in difficulties or troubles, people always pray Kuanyin for
spiritual help to get out of troubles.
Since 1993, the People's Bank of China began to issue Kuanyin
Commemorative Precious Metal Coins annually. These coins are
well accepted by the collectors. In 2003, the People's Bank
of China will continue to issue Kuanyin Commemorative Precious
Metal Coin. This set consists of three coins, including one
gold coin, one silver coin and one platinum coin.
